Chansler Enters Not Guilty Plea

A Fort Dodge Police Officer pleaded not guilty to a domestic assault charge Wednesday morning. 41 year-old Jody Chansler entered the plea in Webster County Magistrate Court and was released on his own recognizance by Magistrate William Habhab. Chansler was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly assaulting his wife. As a condition of his release, Chansler was ordered to have no contact with his wife and to turn in all his guns to the Webster County Sheriff's Office. His trial was scheduled for September 4. Chansler remains on paid administrative leave from the police department pending the outcome of the case.
