Several Changes in FDCSD as School Year Kicks Off



Today marks the first day back to school for several local schools, including the Fort Dodge Community School District. After several student orientations and open houses, the new Fort Dodge Middle School officially opens to staff and students on Tuesday. Across the district, there are several changes students will or may not notice. A new math curriculum for grades kindergarten through 8th grade is being unveiled this year, and students will also welcome about 30 new staff members. Superintendent Doug Van Zyl says he'll spend a good portion of the first day out observing transportation changes:



Along with transportation, four new school buses will be on the roads today, as well.
