Fort Dodge Mayor Matt Bemrich will be running for re-election and seeking his second term in office. Bemrich highlighted the Crosstown Connector, Envision 2030 planning, and quality of life issues, such as a downtown rec center, the trail system, and housing, as some of the major points of emphasis moving forward. Bemrich filed his paperwork with the City Clerk's office Monday morning and said the decision to run for re-election was an easy one to make:
Prior to his first term as Mayor, Bemrich spent four years as an at-large city councilman. Fort Dodge City Clerk Jeff Nemmers says at this point, no other candidates for Mayor have filed petitions.
