Branstad Announces "Connect Every Iowan" Initiative
Governor Terry Brandstad announced a new state initiative yesterday. Wanting to make Iowa the most connected state in the Midwest, Branstad unveiled the "Connect Every Iowan" initiative. The effort is designed to increase internet broadband access, adoption, and use in Iowa. An advisory committee will develop recommendations about how to expand broadband in the state. The report is due by December 1. According to the Technet State Broadband Index, which measures household adoption rate of broadband network speeds, Iowa currently ranks 11th of 12 midwestern states.
