Iowa Healthcare Exchanges Expected to Offer Low Premiums
Newly released rate information on Iowa's health care marketplace shows the state will offer some of the lowest premiums in the country. The Iowa Insurance Division released numbers Friday that back up remarks by Insurance Commissioner Nick Gerhart on the relatively low premiums for the marketplace. Three age-specific applicants are used in the sample information to show Iowans their options for the marketplace, also known as an exchange. Four carriers will sell individual plans, though coverage varies by location. States must have a health care exchange under the new Affordable Care Act. Enrollment starts October 1st and coverage begins on January 1st.
