A Fort Dodge Police Officer accused of assaulting his wife has been found not guilty. Webster County Magistrate William Habhab issued the written ruling on Friday, clearing officer Jody Chansler of the domestic abuse assault charge. Chansler had been accused of shoving his wife to the floor during an argument on August 13. During a Thursday bench trial, Chansler testified that his wife fell down after he and his wife's bodies bumped together as he was trying to leave the house. Chansler, a 12 year-veteran of the police department, had been placed on administrative leave pending the result of the case.
