The Iowa State Patrol says a Badger woman is dead following a single-car accident in Humboldt County. Lt. Kelly Hindman reports 82 year-old Merle Dean Larson was traveling northbound on Lone Tree Road when the car exited the left side of the roadway, struck a bridge marker sign, and then went airborne over a creek bed. The crash occurred at 9:35pm Saturday. His passenger, 77 year-old Dorothy Larson, was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Merle Larson was wearing a seat belt, and had to be extricated from the vehicle. he was initially transported to Humboldt County Hospital before being flown to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. His condition has not been released. The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
