The Fort Dodge Community Foundation and United Way launched their annual community campaign earlier this month. CEO Randy Kuhlman says after clearing last year's goal of $350,000 by $73,000, the goal for the 2013 campaign is $425,000. Once again, this year's campaign theme is "We're Up On Fort Dodge", and monies donated will go to support nine impact areas including youth development, education, mental health, and hunger. As it has been for the past three years, Kuhlman says the United Way prioritizes its support to help area youth:
In all, about 22 non-profit agencies and collaborative projects are expected to receive financial support as a result of the community campaign.
