(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) -- Jacksonville International Airport was closed for about five hours Tuesday night after two suspicious packages were discovered on site.
The Florida airport was reopened after the police bomb squad handled the two packages, one of which authorities described as a "destructive device."
The closure left travelers in limbo as planeloads of passengers remained on the tarmac for hours. Those on inbound flights were bussed to offsite hotels.
The FBI is trying to assess just how dangerous the situation was. The agency has joined Florida authorities in trying to determine who left the packages at the airport and why.
