FD Council Candidates Participate in Thursday Forum



A public forum featuring candidates for three Fort Dodge City Council seats was often spirited as several topics were addressed. The forum, hosted by the Well-Informed Webster People featured Ward 2 candidates Don Wilson and Steve Clayton, Ward 3 candidates Dave Flattery and Richard Higgins, as well as Kim Alstott, who is running unopposed in Ward 4. Topics included transparency between the council and city and how the city's money should be spent.

Following a question about government transparency, Flattery again accused three council members of meeting in private prior to council meetings. Don Wilson, one of the three, addressed the issue:

In Ward 3, one of challenger Richard Higgins' main sticking points has been getting city streets repaired, and using local option sales tax money to do it:


Incumbent Dave Flattery says this election will prove the direction the citizens want Fort Dodge to go in:


On Tuesday, another forum will be held at the Light of the City Conference Center, featuring candidates for Ward 1, at large, and Mayor Matt Bemrich.
