The people of Fort Dodge spoke on Tuesday and the message was loud and clear. Incumbents Don Wilson, Dave Flattery, Kim Alstott, and Andy Fritz will be joined on the Fort Dodge City Council by new members Terry Moehnke and Jeffrey Halter. While Alstott was running unopposed in Ward 4, Wilson and Flattery cruised to convincing wins over opponents Steve Clayton and Richard Higgins. In the race for two at large seats, it was Halter garnering 37 percent of the vote while incumbent Andy Fritz received 34 percent. Greg Nolting received 18 percent of the vote.
Halter said his positive message throughout the campaign resonated with the voters:
Meanwhile in Ward 1, challenger Terry Moehnke received 69 percent of the vote to defeat incumbent Mark Taylor. Moehnke says his stance on the crosstown connector proved to be the difference:
Also winning re-election was Mayor Matt Bemrich, who ran unopposed.
