ID of Driver Killed in Crash with School Bus Released
The identity of a driver killed in a crash with a school bus has been released. Jasper County authorities say a car driven by 52 year-old Newton resident Eric Ewurs rammed into the back of the bus and burst into flames. The accident occurred around 4 p.m. Thursday on County Highway F48 between Colfax and Newton. Another vehicle ran into the car, but the two people in that vehicle weren't hurt. The bus driver also wasn't injured. The school bus did not have any students on board at the time. Sheriff John Halferty says officers and motorists used fire extinguishers trying to put out the blaze and save Ewurs. The exact cause of death is still under investigation.
