Grassley's Chief of Staff Targets Run for U.S. House Seat

Iowa Republican David Young is leaving the race for a U.S. Senate seat and jumping into the race for the U.S. House seat held by the retiring Tom Latham. Young says he'd originally planned to seek the 3rd District seat and assumed Latham would run for Senate. But Latham, of Clive, opted against a Senate race, and he announced last month his plans to retire after finishing his 10th term. Young is the first Republican to announce he'll seek the 3rd District seat. Despite Young's departure from the Senate race, six other Republicans are seeking the nomination for the seat held by retiring Senator Tom Harkin.
