FD Firefighter, One Other Injured in Early Morning House Fire
A Fort Dodge firefighter and another person suffered minor injuries during an early Monday morning house fire. Fire Chief Kent Hulett says crews were dispatched to the 1400 block of North 11th Street at 1:30am Monday to a house fire that originated in the basement. Hulett says a family of five and a pet evacuated themselves from the house prior to crews arriving. While fighting the fire, Hulett said one unnamed firefighter was briefly separated from his partner and had to be rescued. The firefighter was transported to UnityPoint Trinity Regional Medical Center and was released. Hulett also reported that the father suffered minor fire-related injuries. The home was deemed to be a total loss. The exact cause has not been determined at this time.
