East Sac County Schools to Consider Four-Day School Week Model

An area school district is considering a calendar that would include a four-day school week. The Fort Dodge Messenger reports that East Sac County school officials presented the proposal on Monday. Under the proposal, classes would meet Tuesday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm with Mondays being used for professional development. The change is possible because of education reform, which states that school years can be defined by the amount of hours, rather than required teaching days. Under the proposal, there would be ten less instructional days per year.
