Apartment Complex Proposal Gets Initial Support from FD Council

The Fort Dodge City Council took the first step in their support of a proposed project that would add apartment complexes to the city. The council approved the first reading of an ordinance that would approve vacation a portion of 4th Avenue North between 10th and 11th streets. The portion of road sits just south of the Phillips Middle School building, which along with the Fair Oaks Middle School building, is being converted into apartment complexes. Should two more readings of the ordinance be passed, the city would give up ownership of the northern half of the road to Kansas City-based Foutch Brothers LLC. It would be used for parking space. The southern half of the street would be transferred to Holy Trinity Parish, which is purchasing the Phillips gymnasium.
