Iowa's two U.S. Senators were split on vote to approve a nearly $100 billion-a-year farm bill. The farm bill easily passed the Senate on Tuesday by a 68-32 vote and will be signed by President Barack Obama on Friday. Democratic Senator Tom Harkin voted in favor of the bill, while Republican Chuck Grassley voted against. He decided to vote no after negotiators watered down language he added to the senate version to tighten limits on how much farmers could receive in subsidies. The bill offers a wide variety of support for farmers and growers. It also covers the cost of food stamps, which aid 1 in 7 Americans.
