Wanted Suspect in Custody After Altercation with Fort Dodge Police Officers

The Fort Dodge Police Department says a wanted suspect is in custody following an altercation with two officers. Chief Tim Carmody says 33 year-old Joshua Dreesman is facing charges of a parole violation, and misdemeanor counts of interference with official acts and criminal mischief. Carmody says at around 3:40pm Saturday, Sgt. Dan Charlson and Lt. Dennis Mernka had information that Dreesman was a wanted subject and approached his vehicle in the parking lot of Tobacco Outlet. Dreesman tried to run from the scene, allegedly knocking Charlson unconscious during the incident. Charlson was treated and released from UnityPoint Trinity Regional Medical Center.
