Safety Crews Rescue Two FD Boys Stranded on Ice

Fort Dodge first responders were called to rescue two young boys who became stranded on the Des Moines River Thursday afternoon. Crews were dispatched to the river a few hundred feet north of the hydroelectric dam shortly after 2:00pm. Witnesses reported that the two boys, identified as 12 year-old Corbin Crawford and 7 year-old Dylan Crawford became trapped when ice shifted and moved downstream. Firefighters used rope and a light weight flat-bottomed boat to pull the boys to shore. They were examined by paramedics at the scene, but not transported to a hospital.
