FD Council to Address Police Contract, $2M Bond Issue

The Fort Dodge City Council is expected to act on a proposed contract with the city's unionized police officers as well as a significant bond issue. The council will meet at 5:00pm for two workshops, which will be followed by the 6:00pm regular business meeting. During the workshop, the council will discuss the city's proposed strategy for dealing with an emerald ash borer infestation. During the regular meeting, the council could approve a three-year contract proposal with union Public Professional and Maintenance Employees Local 2003. The proposal calls for unionized officers receiving between 1.5 and 2.25 percent raises. The council will also consider a $2 million bond issue. The city is looking to borrow that money for various equipment purchases and projects.
