Husband and Wife Charged in FD Dollar General Robbery
A husband and wife have been charged in connection to a March 12 burglary at the Fort Dodge Dollar General. On Monday morning, 39 year-old Genie Thompson appeared in Webster County Magistrate Court on a Class C felony charge of 2nd degree robbery, 10 days after her husband, 38 year-old John Thompson, appeared on a similar charge. According to criminal complaints, John Thompson attempted to distract store employees while Genie Thompson concealed merchandise. Upon leaving the store, John Thompson allegedly sprayed an employee with pepper spray. Both were ordered held on $10,000 bond during their initial appearances. John Thompson's preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 18, while Genie Thompson's is set for May 1.
