Officials in the Wright County city of Clarion say they've stopped the discharge of untreated wastewater into a nearby creek. The city's wastewater treatment system began discharging Sunday after one of two pumps failed. The state department of natural resources says the pump was replaced on Monday. The city estimates 480,000 gallons of wastewater discharged to Eagle Creek, which flows into the Des Moines River. Officials say high stream flows from recent rains will reduce the discharge's negative impacts. The DNR continues to monitor the case.
