Hearing Set to Move Trott Murder Case Forward

A hearing has been set to possibly move the case forward against a Rockwell City man charged with killing officer Jamie Buenting. On a motion to reinstate proceedings against 33 year-old Corey Trott, a hearing is scheduled for May 16 in Fort Dodge. District Judge Tom Bice had put the case on hold in order for Trott to undergo a mental health and competency evaluation. Trott, who remains held in the Webster County Jail, is facing a first degree murder charge in Buenting's death. He's accused of fatally shooting Buenting during a standoff in Rockwell City on September 13 of last year.
