Fort Dodge Fire Crews Sent to Cargill as Precaution
Crews from the Fort Dodge Fire Department were sent to Cargill late yesterday morning as a precaution. Both Fire Chief Kent Hulett and Eric Ruttum, Cargill Utilities Team Leader, confirmed yesterday that a corn dryer smoldered, but did not catch fire. Cargill personnel put out the smolder prior to Fort Dodge fire crews arriving. There were no injuries. Ruttum said operations returned to normal and that a root cause analysis would be done to prevent it from happening again. In a statement, Ruttum said Cargill's "number one priority is the safety of our employees and the community".
