Crosstown Connector Project Set to Start This Year
The Fort Dodge City Council received an update on a proposed project that would bring major changes to First Avenue South. The council could award a contract for the crosstown connector project on its June 18 meeting, which would turn First Avenue South into the crosstown connector by making it a completely two-way street. Ankeny-based Snyder and Associates estimates the work would cost $3.4 million. Work would be done this year and spring. In addition, the council also discussed garbage containers that were issued for the city's new trash-collecting system. City Manager David Fierke says the city has received about 35 complaints about the containers being too big, and city officials will continue to discuss further options
The council also approved an $8.2 million loan to pay for sanitary sewer improvements.
