Fort Dodge Stabbing Suspect Trying to be Released from Jail Prior to Trial
A bond review hearing was held for a Fort Dodge woman accused of fatally stabbing her 19 year-old brother. The Fort Dodge Messenger reports the hearing was held Monday, during which defense attorney Joe McCarville asked that 24 year-old Vanita Daniels be released from jail while awaiting trial. Daniels has been held since May 9, when she allegedly fatally stabbed Marcquis Collier. She has pleaded not guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter, and will stand trial beginning July 8. The decision from Webster County District Judge Gary McMinimee is expected to be made this week.
