Investigators: FD House Fire that Killed Family Pet Was Intentional

The Fort Dodge fire and police departments are investigating an overnight house fire at 805 S 18th St that is believed to be intentionally set. City Fire Marshal Doug Ostbloom says crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after 2:40am. Investigators believe the fire was started after the house was broken into and items were stolen. Ostbloom estimated the damage at $25,000.  The family was not home at the time, however a dog was killed as a result of the fire. Red Cross officials say they are responding to provide food, clothing, shelter, and other items as needed. Anyone with information is asked to contact Fort Dodge Police or Webster County Crime Stoppers.
