Fort Dodge Sexual Assault Suspect Pleads Not Guilty
A man accused of sexually abusing a woman and assaulting a police officer has pleaded not guilty to charges. 36 year-old Fort Dodge resident Jeramy Smith made written pleas of not guilty yesterday to charges of first-degree sexual abuse and assault on a peace officer. Smith is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at the Countryside Inn in Fort Dodge on May 23, when the woman reportedly suffered knife wounds to her upper leg and abdominal area. After being arrested, Smith allegedly assaulted a detective during questioning. His trial has ben scheduled for August 12. Smith remains held in the Webster County Jail on $150,000 bond.
