Both local and state leaders gathered in Fort Dodge to celebrate the official grand opening of Cargill and CJ Bio America. While both have been in operation since the fall, company officials decided to wait until warm weather to celebrate. Cargill and CJ Bio America currently employ about 320 workers and according to Dennis Plautz, CEO of the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, are creating over $130 million in economic development activity. and with over 400 acres at the ag industrial park certified as shovel ready, Cargill plant manager Al Viaene says Cargill and CJ Bio America are just the start:
The grand opening celebration included speeches from Governor Terry Branstad and Lt Governor Kim Reynolds, Cargill CEO David MacLennan, and CJ Group Chairman Kyung-Shik Sohn.
