STEP Program in Place for Holiday Weekend

Iowa law enforcement agencies are stepping up their efforts on roadways this Independence Day weekend. The Iowa Department of Transportation says over 250 city, county, and state agencies are participating in a special traffic enforcement program to help keep holiday travelers safe. The STEP projects are funded by the governor's traffic safety bureau, which enables officers to work overtime hours on roadways when travel increases and and traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities are more probable. Motorists are encouraged, as always, to buckle up, slow down, and stay sober.
