Oil Pipeline Proposed to Run Through Iowa

A Texas company wants to run through Iowa a pipeline that would carry crude oil from North Dakota's Bakken oil fields to Illinois. The Des Moines Register says the underground route through Iowa would begin in Lyon County and slice southeast through 15 other counties and exit at Lee County. Energy Transfer Partners LP, of Dallas, is proposing the pipeline, which would carry at least 320,000 barrels of crude a day and end in Patoka, Illinois. The project faces Iowa regulatory reviews from the Utilities Board and the Department of Natural Resources. The company wants to begin operation of the pipeline by the end of 2016.
