Area Counties to Receive Federal Aid Following June Severe Storms

Six area counties were among the 26 total that were approved to receive federal aid to recover from rounds of severe storms. Governor Terry Branstad announced Thursday that 26 Iowa counties will receive federal money to help repair damage to infrastructure, including roads, drainage ditches, and other public property. Humboldt, Pocahontas, Sac, Kossuth, Wright, and Palo Alto counties were included in the federal disaster declaration. Local officials in Kossuth, Wright, and Pocahontas counties estimated damage from those June 14-23 storms to be anywhere from $70,000 to $200,000.
