FD Property Owner Facing City Code Violations in Animal Neglect Case

A Fort Dodge property owner is facing five municipal code violations after authorities took over 40 animals from two properties. 61 year-old Kathleen Bond entered written pleas of not guilty to four counts of failure to register an animal and one count of disturbing the peace. Her trial was scheduled for September 5. In July, Fort Dodge police found 35 cats and nine dogs in the two G Street homes after receiving reports of alleged animal neglect. Firefighters found unsafe levels of ammonia in the homes. The animals were removed from the properties and new homes have been found for them.
