$143 Million In Grant Money Awarded To Bolster Rural Internet In Iowa

The FCC has announced it is awarding $143 million to broadband providers in Iowa to strengthen internet service in rural areas. The funding is part of the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund which is a 20 billion dollar federal initiative to bolster connectivity in rural area nationwide. Of the 143 million dollars being awarded to providers in Iowa, AMG Technology investment was allocated 78% of that to the tune of $112 million. LTD broadband was awarded over $ 23 million, Windstream Services is receiving 5.3 million and American Heartland $1.8 million. Several other providers in Iowa will receive grants ranging from just over $8,000 to up to more than $350,000.
