Bill Would Expand Time-Off Benefits to Adoptive Parents

A bill that would expand time-off entitlements to adoptive parents is working its way through the Legislature. The bill would require an employer to offer the same benefits to adoptive parents that it does to other parents. The bill passed the Senate on Thursday and Representative Joel Fry, from Osceola, is looking for bipartisan support in the house. If the bill passes, Iowa could become one of the only states that requires time off entitlements for adoptive parents.
