Fort Dodge City Council Meets

The Fort Dodge City Council met Monday. During the meeting, Fire fighter Jon Schrek was welcomed to the force. He comes to Fort Dodge from Carroll, and is certified in Hazmat, paramedic, ice rescue, and fire fighter two. His father, who is the fire chief in Carroll, pinned his badge on him. Fire fighter Matt Brown was recognized for his years of service to the force. He retired effective Monday night. He was recognized for his heroic service during the Hotel Eillers fire in 1994. As one of his final duties as a fire fighter, Brown assisted in the delivery of a baby girl on Saturday. In other business, the council awarded a contract for $3.7 million to Rasch Construction for more sewer work. Citizens can also go online and take a survey on the Olson Park Zoo.
