According to Fort Dodge Mayor Matt Bemrich a developer has made a written offer to purchase Crossroads Mall. The mayor nor David Fierke Fort Dodge City Manager have disclosed the name of the prospective buyer as of yet. They say the prospective buyer is now in a waiting period of 120 days while representatives of the prospective buyer inspects the building and reviews the leases. The waiting period will end on Dec. 4th. Bemrich says the prospective buyer wants to redevelop the site, but the specifics of their prospective plans for the site are unknown as of this time. If the sale goes through , the new owner would have an opportunity to get financial help from the city. The city council at their meeting Monday to include the mall site in The Center City Urban Renewal Area which would clear the way for possible usage of tax increment funding.
