31 Businesses in Webster County Receive Grants Hand Delivered By Supervisors

(Alpha Media – Brooke Bickford) 31 business owners are getting a surprise visit from the Webster County Board of Supervisors today, as each will be receiving between 25-hundred and 10-thousand dollars in grant money for their small businesses.

Webster County Supervisor Niki Conrad spoke to Alpha Media about the

Webster County Business Recovery and Continuity Grant. She says a quarter of a million dollars will be distributed to the businesses in Webster County.

Conrad did this last year and says the reactions vary from business owner to business owner.

“You know, some folks are just surprised they had forgotten that they had applied or they just didn’t expect to receive anything at all.” Conrad said. “When we come in and tell them that they received the grant they’re just overjoyed and very grateful. I’m more grateful for them and I think the emotion is two fold. It’s on my side and their side as well.”

Along with Supervisor Conrad, Supervisors Bob Thode, Mark Campbell and Nick Carlson are out today surprising business.

Conrad says she gets the fun part, but there are a lot of people behind the scenes who make this happen including the small business development association, Jen Sheda with the county and the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance.
