Ames Vote Completes “Clean Sweep” For Ten Teams Leaving The CIML

It’s now a clean sweep for the ten current CIML Members that are leaving to form a new league. Monday night, the Ames School Board voted 6-1 in favor of leaving the current conference. The Five Des Moines Public Schools voted to vacate the league on Monday as well.

Ames was the last school district to vote on the matter, as they had to vote and announce their intentions to leave the CIML before the end of this month.

They join Fort Dodge who voted to leave last week. Marshalltown, Mason City and Ottumwa had already announced their intentions. The launch date for the newly formed conference is the 2022-2023 academic year.

The name of the new conference has not yet been announced.
