Area Baseball/Softball Report: Gaels Baseball Falls, Dodger Softball & Baseball Scratch Out Wins

In a game heard on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website St. Edmond Baseball fell on the road in the 2nd round of the playoffs to Ogden 4-0. The game was scoreless through 2 innings, Ogden scored 2 in the 3rd after opening their half of the inning drawing 2 walks. Bulldogs would add 2 more in the 5th inning as well. Gaels threatened in the 4th as they had runners on 3rd and 2nd with 1 out but failed to score. John Nemmers and Cael Kolacia both with doubles for St. Edmond. Dylan Elbert the win on the hill for Ogden going 6 2/3 of shutout ball, scattering 5 hits, striking out 9 and didn’t walk anybody. Cael Kolacia a tough luck loss on the hill he went 5 Innings, giving up just 2 hits allowed 4 runs while striking out 10 and walked 5. Every player that scored for Ogden either reached on a walk or an error. Gaels end their season at 5-4 but finished on the field after missing the final 2 weeks of the regular season after a player tested positive for covid-19.

Dodger Softball a win on Senior Night at Rogers Park 4-1 over Indianola. Dodgers struck 1st getting 2 in the 1st. Indianola would get one in the 4th, Dodgers would add 2 insurance runs in the 6th. Dodger Junior Catcher TK Doster with 2 hits, 2 stolen bases and two runs scored. Jalen Adams got her 17th win of the season in the circle. She threw a complete game, scattering 6 hits allowing just one run while striking out 9. Dodgers still carrying the #1 ranking in 5A they improve to 25-3 on the season. They’ll be idle until their playoff opener Tuesday July 21st at Rogers Park for a 7 PM 1st pitch. Dodger Baseball got a win in their regular season finale edging Carroll 11-10 on the road. Fort Dodge Baseball hosts Ames Friday Night in the playoffs, a 7 PM start at Mcneil Field.

Other area softball playoff games scheduled for Wednesday Night will see Algona hosting Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. Humboldt will host Southeast Valley, those two team met last week with Humboldt winning 16-8. Here’s Humboldt Head Coach Doug Van Pelt on the match up.
