Area HS Hoops Report For 12-2: SC Calhoun Girls Move To 3-0, Boys Fall On Road & Area Scores

In games heard on 105.9 “The Beach” Tuesday night South Central Calhoun got a split on the road at South Hamilton. The Titans Girls got their 3rd straight win to open the season, the Boys program got it’s 1st loss of the season. It was the 2nd game in as many night for both South Central Calhoun programs. South Central Calhoun Girls built a 26-19 lead at the half. They would outscore South Hamilton 28-19 after the break to go on to win 54-38. Riley Batta led the way for  SC Calhoun with 17, her 3rd straight game in double figures to open the season. South Central Calhoun is ranked in the top 5 in Class 1A under 1st year coach Brady Dicks.

The Titan Boys fell to South Hamilton 60-47 after being unable to overcome an early deficit. Titans trailed 33-18 going into the halftime locker room. Carter Hewitt led South Hamilton with 15. Josh Dietrich had 16 to lead South Central Calhoun, 14 of those coming in the 2nd half. Brennan Holder added 14. Titans are back in action Friday night hosting East Sac County. Class 1A’s #1 Newell-Fonda trounced Western Christian 86-34. Bailey Sievers, Macy Sievers and Maggie Walker all in double figures for Newell-Fonda.

Last year’s State Runner Ups in 1A Bishop Garrigan cruised past Belmond-Klemme 83-22. Garrigan D-I prospect Audi Crooks with 23 pts, 7 boards and 5 blocks. Teammate Molly Joyce with 23 and 6 assists.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows with a 52-28 over South Hardin. Cowgirls are 3-0 on the young season.

Southeast Valley impressive defensively as the win 40-26 over Madrid.

Boys Results

Southeast Valley got a 2 point win in a thriller. They topped Madrid 65-63 thanks to a buzzer beater by Kolson Kruse. The game winner was 2 of his team high 18.

East Sac County over Woodbury Central 76-66.

Western Christian exploded offensively and had no trouble with Newell-Fonda as they won 96-68.

Forest City stifled Eagle Grove defensively in route to a 46-20 win.

South Hardin edged Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 54-48.

Humboldt with a win in impressive fashion 83-57 over Pocahontas Area.
