Area HS Hoops Report: Gaels Boys & Girls Fall At SE Valley, Dodger Girls Fall In Opener

Tuesday night, saw the St. Edmond Gaels made the short trek to take on Southeast Valley, it also saw the Fort Dodge Girls open at Dowling Catholic. On “Snowy” 99.7, St. Edmond was swept at the hands of the home standing Jags. St. Edmond’s Girls fell 64-46 to Southeast Valley. While it was still a loss for Coach C.J. Tracy’s program it was described as their best performance of the season so far, thus showing improvement. Gaels had two players in double figures Leah Neverman with a team high 12 and Kacey Kruthoff with 10. For Southeast Valley, Emily Hemmestead and Chloe Hicks had 17 each and Madison lane had 14.

In the boys game, Southeast Valley remained undefeated after a 57-39 win. The game was 16-12 after the 1st. St. Edmond struggled offensively after that scoring just 15 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters combined. Jackson Palmer and Drew Schaeffer led St. Edmond with 8 each. Kolson Kruse and Aaron Graves both had 12 and Sam Hanson added 11 to give Southeast Valley three players in double figures.

The Fort Dodge Girls fell in their opener at Dowling Catholic 67-26. It was a tough night offensively for Fort Dodge as they were playing without two expected contributors due to quarantine and other offensive weapons were in early foul trouble. Dowling opened the game on a 16-2 run. T.K. Doster was the lone Dodger in double figures with 11. It was a girls only game, the Dodger boys and girls play Friday at home vs Ankeny Centennial.
