The 2nd annual Holiday Sock Drive is underway in the area and runs through December 15th. The drive is in need of children and adult socks. The socks will be distributed to local schools and shelters and the drive calls for new socks only. Local woman Kendra Ollinger is again organizing the drive after starting it last year. She says due to economic hardships presented by Covid-19, she expects a greater need this year.
Their are several drop off locations in the area including in Fort Dodge, Amigos, Danny’s Hair Fashions, Fort Dodge Rec, JRG Supply and Kemna Quick Lube. In Manson, Highway 7 Market and Fringe Salon are drop off locations. Kelso’s General Merchandise in Dayton and Addison James in Gowrie also are serving as drop off points. Ollinger says the business community has shown incredible support.
Ollinger says the focus of the Holiday Sock Drive is to be a blessing to the community.
Last year’s drive raised over 2,000 pairs of socks and they are looking to top that number this year.
