Area Softball Baseball/Report: Dodger Softball Gets Win Over Carlisle And Other Scores
Class 5A’s #1 team Fort Dodge Softball won on the road 2-0 in a showdown with 4A’s #1 Carlisle Tuesday night. Jalen Adams with another masterpiece in the circle for the Dodgers. The Sophomore has emerged as arguably the most dominant softball pitcher in Iowa. She threw her 2nd consecutive complete game shutout Tuesday scattering 3 hits while striking out 9. That is now 14 consecutive scoreless innings for Adams in the circle, she also has been tearing it up at the plate hitting .586 with an OBP of over .600 coming into this week. The game was scoreless through 4 innings, Dodgers scratched across one in the 5th and added another in the 7th. Senior Loghen Schnetzer drove in both runs for the Dodgers after having 2 home runs and 4 RBI’s on Monday in a double dip vs Roosevelt. Schnetzer now has 8 homers which is tied for 1st in all of Iowa and her 36 RBI’s is good for 1st in Iowa. The Dodgers have players in the top 10 in Iowa in virtually every offensive category. Dodgers have three losses all on the road to ranked teams in 2nd games of double headers and those 3 losses are by a combined 5 runs. They are back in action Thursday at Rogers Park for a double dip against Des Moines- North starting at 5 PM.
Fort Dodge Baseball is slated for a trip to Des Moines Lincoln Wednesday for a double header starting at 3:30 PM. Dodgers have won 5 of their last 6 games and their record sits at 6-4 going into Wednesday’s games. St. Edmond Softball is at Clear Lake, Gaels have won 3 of their last 4.
Elsewhere around the area from Tuesday Night- Algona Baseball fell 8-4 to Estherville Lincoln Central. Bulldogs trailed 5-1 after 4, they would score 2 in the 5th but ELC answered 3 in their half of the 5th. Pocahontas Area Baseball remains unbeaten after downing West bend-Mallard 9-5. Webster City edged Nevada 6-5, Boone blanked Humboldt 8-0 and Newell-Fonda cruised to a 17-5 win over Ridgeview. In Softball, Humboldt blanked Pocahontas Area 10-0, Emmetsburg over Manson NW Webster 11-8 and Newell- Fonda no trouble with Okoboji winning 10-0.
