Area Softball & Baseball Report For 6-2: SE Valley Downs Gaels, Dodgers Get Road Splits
In a game heard on “Sunny” 99.7 on Tuesday night, St. Edmond Softball fell to Southeast Valley in a slug fest 12-9. The Gaels got one in the 1st and 2nd, to lead 2-0 after two. They would explode for 7 in the 3rd and led 9-0 nothing.
Southeast valley would rally back scoring 7 in the top of the 4th to cut it to 9-7. The Jags held St. Edmond scoreless the rest of the way, then they added one in the 6th to cut the deficit to one run. Southeast Valley got 4 in the top of the 7th to take the lead and the game. Jordan Rawley with 3 hits for SEV. Gracie Harvey doubled,tripled and drove in two for St. Edmond.
Southeast Valley baseball got a win 15-7 over St. Edmond. The Jags came out of the gate clicking, scoring 6 in the 1st. Gaels got three in the home half of the 1st to cut the lead in half after one. The Jags added one in the 2nd and one in the 4th. Gaels got two in both the 3rd and 4th innings to cut the lead to 8-7. SE Valley would pull away with 6 in the 6th and tacked on one more in the 7th.
St. Edmond’s Peyton Scott with three hits and three RBI’s. SEV’s Caden larson had three hits and Rhett Grandfield drove in three. St. Edmond is at Algona Wednesday night to open conference play.
Fort Dodge Softball split a road double header with a ranked Ankeny Centennial squad. Dodgers took game one , 4-1 behind another stellar pitching performance from Jalen Adams. She threw another complete game, allowing just one run on five hits, while striking out 12. Tory Bennett and Sophia Klinger both had a pair of hits. Mariah Myers and Martyne Lowrey both had RBI’s.
Centennial took the night cap 6-3. They jumped out to an early lead scoring one in the 1st and five in the 2nd and led 6-2 after two. Dodger 8th grader Lucy Porter was sharp in relief, coming with Fort Dodge trailing 6-2. Porter threw 4 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Martyne Lowrey had two hits and Maia Davis drove in a run. Dodgers are now 6-3 on the season.
Fort Dodge Baseball split at Ankeny Centennial falling 4-3 in the opener and took game two 5-3. Christian Davidosn and Eli Elsbecker both had two hits in game one. Carson Peterson got the win on the hill in the second game, Drake Callon came on for the save. Dodgers had a three run rally in the 4th inning of game two to get the lead and take the win. Dodgers are now one game below .500
