In a game heard on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website Monday Night, St. Edmond Softball knocked off GTRA. The Titans came in with 15 wins in the regular season and were the top seed in the regional. GTRA took a 2-0 lead after 2, Gaels got 2 in the 3rd to tie it. The game would remain deadlocked at 2-2 until the 8th inning. St. Edmond would send up 8th grader Grace Neuberger with 2 out in the top of the 8th and a runner in scoring position.
Brian Peters on the call as that single by Neuberger drove in the go ahead run, Gaels would get one more in the 8th. They took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the 8th and would close the door on GTRA and win it 4-2. Ella Vratny a complete game in the circle allowing just 2 runs while scattering 5 hits. Alyson Nieland with 3 hits for St. Edmond. Gaels will advance to Wednesday Night they will take on MMCRU at Cleghorn Middle School for a 7 Pm 1st pitch. St. Edmond Baseball finished off Monday Night what they started Saturday rolling past Collins-Maxwell 13-2 in 5 innings. Cael Kolacia the win on the hill going 3 innings striking out 7, Peyton Scott worked the final two innings striking out 2. Gaels Baseball back it Tonight (Tuesday) they play Ogden at Ogden, a 7 PM 1st pitch on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website, winner advances to District Title Game. Rob Jones will have the call filling in for Brian Peters.
Fort Dodge Baseball dropped both games of their home double header to Ames, 6-4 in the 1st and 15-3 in the night cap. Tyler Schreier, Carson Peterson and Eli Elsbecker all went yard for their 1st career varsity home runs in the 1st game. Game 1 was tied at 2 and went to extra innings. Ames got 4 in the top of the 8th, Dodgers rallied to score two but that was close as they would come. In the night cap, Ames would score 10 runs from the 3rd through the 5th and break the game open winning 15-3. Dodger Baseball has regular season finale at Carroll Tonight (Tuesday) at 7:30. Dodger Baseball will host Ames again Friday in the 1st round of the playoffs. Dodger Softball has their regular season finale hosting Indianola at Rogers Park at 6 PM.
