Black Hawk County Man Sentenced For Bank Robbery Conviction

A Black Hawk County man has been sentenced to prison after robbing a bank there over two years ago. 36 year old, Lucas Raymond Thompson was sentenced last Thursday to a 13 year term in federal prison. Court documents say Thompson robbed a bank in Waterloo in 2018, after he threatened the teller with a gun and fled the scene in a vehicle. The teller was able to get the license plate of the vehicle and relay that info to police. Prior to his federal conviction, Thompson was convicted of armed robbery in state court. Police say in that case, Thompson robbed a Waterloo convenience store after pulling a gun on the clerk. He was sentenced to a minimum of 7 years in that case. His two sentences are set to run consecutively . Thompson is in the custody of the U.S. Marshall’s pending transport to federal prison.
