Des Moines Police said Monday the body found in the Des Moines River over the weekend was that of 18-year-old Abdullahi Sharif. On Saturday afternoon police were called out on a report of body in the river. Fire and Rescue personnel retrieved Sharif’s body from the river near Prospect Park with the help of Iowa DNR. The body was taken to the Polk County Medical Examiner’s office and later identified as Sharif. He was last seen in Mid-January at the Target store. at the Merle Hay Mall. Police say there were no signs of traumatic injuries to Sharif’s body, his cause of death had not been determined as of the time of this report.
