The 1st degree murder trial of a Fort Dodge man will now have a new venue. 44 year old, Justin Chrsitopher Hurdel will stand trial on 1st degree murder charges in Boone County. Hurdel is accused of shooting and killing his estranged wife Maggie Flint.
A Webster County judge ordered the change of venue citing the reasons as, the local media coverage in the case, and the failed jury selection process.
Flint died after she was allegedly shot by Hurdel in August of 2020. Police say, Hurdel led them on a man hunt for over 16 hours before he was located. Police reports say, that Hurdel suffered a self inflicted gunshot wound to the face and was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
Hurdel’s trial is set to begin in Boone County, in late June.
