CICS Extends Services To North Central Iowa Counties

CICS, a Mental Health and Disability Services Region that works with people experiencing brain health struggles and intellectual or other developmental disabilities, began serving Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Webster and Wright Counties on July 1, 2021. Open houses were hosted earlier this week to commemorate the launch in each county, where organization officials welcomed members of the community at each new location with a tour and discussion about services offered.

“We’re pleased to expand our services to Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Webster and Wright Counties,” said Russell Wood, CICS CEO. “The counties were looking at opportunities to increase access and availability to certain types of services, including crisis response services. The structure and stability of our organization allow for those services to be supported and successfully executed while ensuring a smooth transition for individuals who are currently utilizing services in these counties.”

CICS supports individuals and strengthens communities in the counties it serves. The organization coordinates services and financial support and partners with providers, families, individuals and health and human service systems to provide a care approach that is welcoming and individual-oriented. CICS also offers mobile crisis services and community-based crisis stabilization to ensure individuals receive immediate care during a crisis.

“We recently began working with these communities to provide mobile crisis services. Now, we’re also offering community-based crisis stabilization for up to five days. Both mobile crisis services and community-based crisis stabilization services are designed to help those struggling with brain health while remaining in a familiar and supportive environment,” noted Wood.
